“Psychological studies reveal that 95 percent of everything we feel, think, and achieve is a result of a learned habit!”
I lost 50 pounds in the middle of the school year (December-May). I remember thinking that if I could find a way to move more at work, it would make what I had to do after work less. Simple right? But, we miss daily opportunities to move more. Anyone who’s known me for an extended period of time knows I’m not the biggest fan of exercise. Now, as I’m living a healthier lifestyle I don’t mind it as much, and actually like some of it. However, I still figured if I could find a way to move more at work, that would compound my efforts at home. Continue Reading

Victor Frankl, famed psychologist and Holocaust survivor said that humans “seek pleasure and avoid pain”. There are two lessons we can take from this regarding changing to a more healthy lifestyle: Continue Reading
1. The #1 thing to know is nutrition is at least 80% of the whole thing. Its diminished returns if you decide to get savage and workout every day if you’re not eating correctly. There is no way around it, trust me I have tried. If you want to lose weight you have to eat differently. Period.

For the last 10 years, I have been teaching and coaching at the high school level. Over that time, I have gained 10-15 pounds/year. I ballooned to 317lbs, which at 5’8″ means I was very unhealthy. Let’s just say the last time I went to buy dress pants, I had to shop in the “portly” section (true story). I was embarrassed about my weight, and honestly it effected my work performance and pursuit of my life goals. I felt stuck and was afraid to make changes. However, in December of 2011, I began a lifestyle transformation and changed a bunch of things in my life. The positive benefits added up as the momentum built, and I started to wonder why I had settled for so long and allowed myself to get so unhealthy. My purpose with this site is to help others get out of that hopeless situation. I don’t want others to linger there for years at a time like I did. In the coming weeks I will lay out what I am doing nutritionally, fitness wise, and give you the secrets I’ve found that have made the journey possible. At this point, I am five months in and have lost 60 pounds. Continue Reading
